INDIANAPOLIS - The founding families that planted the seeds of what would become today’s Family Service of Central Indiana, Inc. recognized the importance of strong families and the power of neighbors to make a difference. Throughout the organization’s 175 year history, Family Service has never lost sight of its central mission – to strengthen and preserve families. The Community Foundation of Boone County is proud to provide a grant to Family Service of Central Indiana, Inc in the amount of $30,000, allowing for the purchase of some updated office equipment, and financial scholarships allowing them to continue to offer their sliding scale fees, and provide services to Boone County residents. The Boone County Family Service of Central Indiana office currently provides individual and family counseling, alternatives to domestic violence, chemical dependency treatment, parenting education classes, and money management classes. They operate on a generous sliding scale, making their services easily attainable by those who, quite possibly need it the most. In 2009, Family Service of Central Indiana provided services to 474 Boone County residents, and only 5 were able to pay for the full cost of services provided to them. The grant from the Community Foundation will assist Family Service in providing as many as 100 low income, un-insured or under-insured Boone County residents with services. Additionally, a portion of the grant allocates up to $7,600 for updates to the Boone County office’s computers and communication systems, ensuring more effective transmission of data to clients, referral sources and case workers. ### “The Community Foundation of Boone County provides pathways connecting people who care with causes that matter now and in the future.” About Family Service: Family Service of Central Indiana, Inc. is a private not-for-profit organization working to preserve and strengthen families in times of crisis, change and growth.
